3DSecret Project Highlighted at Pint of Science Portugal and UTAD Bioquímica Conference

On 13 May 2024, Miguel Xavier took part in two major science outreach and academic events in Portugal, bringing the 3DSecret project to wider audiences.

Miguel first participated in Pint of Science Portugal, returning to his hometown of Guimarães to engage with the public in a relaxed and inspiring setting. The following day, he delivered a keynote talk at the XVI Jornadas de Bioquímica at the Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), invited by the NEBIOQ student association.

In his keynote, Miguel presented recent advances of the 3DSecret project, which focuses on analysing circulating tumour cells to uncover patterns linked to the onset of breast cancer metastasis. The talk also touched on broader themes in microfluidics and cancer research, sparking discussion with students and faculty.

The event also featured contributions from national experts, including Miguel Prudêncio from the Instituto de Medicina Molecular, who presented pioneering work on new malaria vaccines.
